DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC

The University of Dayton’s Department of Music is committed to helping their students develop their musical interest, talents, and skills. They connect students with abundant local and global resources, provide a large amount of diverse opportunities for both group and individual music education, prepare students with essential skills to meet the changing needs of our global society, and work to help students reach their fullest musical potential as a performer, composer, scholar, teacher, therapist, or advocate.  

 

The department offers many different degree programs. These include Bachelor of Music in music composition, music performance, music therapy, and music education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music with concentrations in ethnomusicology, jazz studies, or music studies. The department also offers minors in music and music technology. A student can also receive a certificate in church music. The University of Dayton is also a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The music therapy degree is approved by the American Music Therapy Association, and the music education degree is licensed by the State of Ohio.
